Thom Yorke at the Orpheum

Great show watching Thom Yorke & Flea at the Orpheum in downtown Los Angeles.

It’s been a while Part 3

So this is part three of the recap installment.  Check the previous two post for the earlier parts of the pictorial recap.

First up, in mid July, is a Peruvian festival the family got a chance to check out.  The food was great and it was good to see so much Peruvian food in one place.

In early August we got a chance to have a mini staycation in downtown Los Angeles.  On the first afternoon we checked out the exhibit at the MOCA.

They had a room full of Rothko paintings.

Had a chance to walk around and appreciate the buildings architecture of downtown.

It’s been a while Part 2

Okay so the pictorial recap of the last couple months continues (see the previous post for the first installment).

In early July we had Peanut Butter Wolf & Hawthorne Mayer perform at work.  PBW was spinning the 45’s and Hawthorne Mayer came out and played with his band (they even had a horn section).

Then Pre Lai graced us with his birth on July 13th! (This kid is going places!)

Sandy and I decided to take the subway into Hollywood to catch a film at the Arclight.  We walked around Hollywood for a bit then made our way to the theater.

Michael Jackson had just passed away the week prior.  Here is his star on the walk of fame.

Finally, I was able to catch Inter Milan play Chelsea at the Rose Bowl.  We were going for Inter, but they lost that night.

It’s been a while Part 1

Sorry for being away for so long.  Been busy and put blame on work and life.  I have been bad on regularly updating this.  Need to improve on that. Anywho, here is a pictorial recap of random events in the last couple months.

First off, back in June, I got a chance to check out the e3 (video game conference).  Some of the highlights were Beatles Rock Band, DJ Hero, Microsoft Project Natal, and XBOX 360 social media integration.  Here are some random pictures from the day.

Another great thing about e3 this year is that the Lakers were in the play offs.

Late in June we went to Dwell on Design with the family.  Great source of inspiration and got ideas for the house.  Checked out some great furniture too.

It’s summer time!  Few things happen in summer.  The kidde pool gets inflated, and art goes up on the walls at work.

this looks promising.

Got some high hopes for this Mr. Jonze.

taking pictures

I enjoy taking pictures!

Well, recently my pictures have been getting a bit of outside interest.  Flickr views are up and I have recently been getting a couple requests to use my pictures.  All my photos are under the creative common license so it is pretty easy (and more importantly free) to use my photos for any purpose.

A couple months back I sold my first photos for use in a marketing pamphlet.  I didn’t get paid much but I thought it was pretty cool that someone would use my photos for a print piece.  Now this last week someone used my picture for a blog post.

Check out http://www.landor.com/index.cfm?do=thinking.blog&post_id=18854#top

Not my favorite picture but just glad someone would use it.

A couple good Art Shows

Been to a couple cool art shows in the last 2 weeks.

First off, mister Jim Darling had a showing at the Charmichael Gallery in Hollywood. Fucking great stuff Jim. Wish I had some money to buy a piece.

This last weekend we went over to the MOCA for the members opening night of the Dan Graham exhibition. Some good drinks and music with Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth (separately) performing. Got a shot of Thurston and Kim (she is right behind the woman with the green bag) with artist Dan Graham.

Photo LA

Checked out my first ever Photo LA exposition last weekend. Got a chance to see a ton of great photography from some of the best collections from Los Angeles Galleries. Great way to get some valuable inspiration, but also made me realize how mediocre my photos are.  It was nice to see someone I used to work with, Alex Prager, blow up and have work on display.

Here are a couple shots from the show.

Shepard Fairey on The Colbert Report

Two of my favorite things.

Another downtown family fun day.

Had another family fun day in downtown on a nice Sunday afternoon. The tour started at the Barker Lofts. Urth Cafe recently opened up and wanted to do the taste test. Breakfast was pretty good, but it ain’t cheap! Didn’t get a chance to try it, but I hear the pumpkin pie is legendary here!

After the MOCA we went back to the Barker Block to check out the Festival De La Gente.
