It’s been a while Part 4

Okay, so this should be the final installment of my pictorial recap.  For the most part, we should be all caught up and now it’s up to me to keep things more up to date.

We first start out with the fires that burned in Los Angeles at the end of August and early September.  It was another summer full of fires in southern California.  This picture from Fernando’s rooftop is of the fires in La Canada.

After this photo we headed to little Tokyo for some food and store browsing.  Love me some slightly ackward Japanese toys.  Here is some sushi toys.

Been going to the North Hollywood dog park with Neron on Sunday mornings.  Took some quick shots of the electrical towers next to the dog park.

At the beginning of October I got to see Thom Yorke play at the Orpheum in downtown LA.  He put a quick band together (which included Flea and Nigel Godrich) and put on an amazing show consisting mostly of songs from his solo album and some new tunes.  Flea rocked it and Thom Yorke was on point, as always.  Here are a couple shots.

Last week I had to fly into New York on business.  Flew in and out for an all day meeting and was not able to see much of the city.  I was able to get a couple pics of Grand Central Station.

It’s been a while Part 1

Sorry for being away for so long.  Been busy and put blame on work and life.  I have been bad on regularly updating this.  Need to improve on that. Anywho, here is a pictorial recap of random events in the last couple months.

First off, back in June, I got a chance to check out the e3 (video game conference).  Some of the highlights were Beatles Rock Band, DJ Hero, Microsoft Project Natal, and XBOX 360 social media integration.  Here are some random pictures from the day.

Another great thing about e3 this year is that the Lakers were in the play offs.

Late in June we went to Dwell on Design with the family.  Great source of inspiration and got ideas for the house.  Checked out some great furniture too.

It’s summer time!  Few things happen in summer.  The kidde pool gets inflated, and art goes up on the walls at work.

Here is a shot of Peanut Butter Wolf playing a quick DJ set at work. He cruised by and performed before Mayer Hawthorne; a artist you will be hearing about later this year that is on the Stonesthrow label.

taking pictures

I enjoy taking pictures!

Well, recently my pictures have been getting a bit of outside interest.  Flickr views are up and I have recently been getting a couple requests to use my pictures.  All my photos are under the creative common license so it is pretty easy (and more importantly free) to use my photos for any purpose.

A couple months back I sold my first photos for use in a marketing pamphlet.  I didn’t get paid much but I thought it was pretty cool that someone would use my photos for a print piece.  Now this last week someone used my picture for a blog post.

Check out http://www.landor.com/index.cfm?do=thinking.blog&post_id=18854#top

Not my favorite picture but just glad someone would use it.

Photo LA

Checked out my first ever Photo LA exposition last weekend. Got a chance to see a ton of great photography from some of the best collections from Los Angeles Galleries. Great way to get some valuable inspiration, but also made me realize how mediocre my photos are.  It was nice to see someone I used to work with, Alex Prager, blow up and have work on display.

Here are a couple shots from the show.

a round of up of the last few

It has been a busy last couple weeks, but also had some time to enjoy the city. Here are a few highlights.

First off we have Yen’s birthday at Dockweiler Beach. Enjoyed watching the sun go down on a gorgeous Los Angeles evening. Can’t go wrong with good company, food, and drinks.

Next up, against best judgement, we decided to weather the storm of hordes of people that is the new Americana at Brand. The valley has its own Grove!

Finally, got a quick shot of the mural on Glendale Blvd. underneath the Sunset Bridge. This is on our way to Taix before the awesome Cut Copy show.

A trip to the Observatory.

We have been wanting to check out the Griffith Obervatory for a while since the recent upgrades. Had a chance to check it out a couple weekends back on a Sunday morning.

The view of Los Angeles alone is good reason to make the trek up the hill to the Observatory.

Happy Holidays

So I haven’t posted in awhile, sorry. There has been a ton to write about, but have just been lazy I guess. And even when I do go out and take the camera I would forget to take pictures. Well lets begin the recap.

My brothers birthday was earlier this month. Did the annual dinner at Matsuhisa, hmmmm good, and the next night we met up at the bar at the Figueroa Hotel. Really cool place you guys should check out if you are ever at the Staple Center. Got my drink on and did not take too many photos. I took this one stumbling on the way out.

The next day we headed over to the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena to check out some art.

Later on in the evening I put up the Christmas lights to my house for the first time ever. Liked how it came out but I also learned a couple things from mistakes. Next year will be dope.

The next weekend I had my company’s Christmas Party. The party this year was at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. Had this Speakeasy theme and was actually surprised with the number of people that came out dressed up. This was my first Chiat Christmas party and it was good times. My stupid ass forgot to take any pics during the actual party. Sorry!
