Catching up

So… sorry for the lack of updates the last few weeks.  Been super busy with life but wanted to catch up on a couple recent happenings.

First off, the family got to hangs on the beaches of San Clemente a few weeks back (check the previous Easter post from the iPhone).  Completely relaxing and completely needed.  Here is the view from the patio.  Pretty sweet!

These next shots were taken at the Fiest Broadway festival in Downtown LA.  The festival itself was whatever.  A lot of “spin the wheel for a free bottle opener or pen” booths.

But the family did get a chance to eat in the Grand Central Market.  Really great place.  Totally recommend trying to make it out there.  Had some great mexican food!

This AR stuff is just getting cooler and cooler by the day.  Check this one out:

taking pictures

I enjoy taking pictures!

Well, recently my pictures have been getting a bit of outside interest.  Flickr views are up and I have recently been getting a couple requests to use my pictures.  All my photos are under the creative common license so it is pretty easy (and more importantly free) to use my photos for any purpose.

A couple months back I sold my first photos for use in a marketing pamphlet.  I didn’t get paid much but I thought it was pretty cool that someone would use my photos for a print piece.  Now this last week someone used my picture for a blog post.

Check out http://www.landor.com/index.cfm?do=thinking.blog&post_id=18854#top

Not my favorite picture but just glad someone would use it.

Times of financial crisis

I am posting this video so I can look back at this one day and remember that I survived a financial disaster.  Crazy times and here is an explanation of how we got into this mess.

A couple good Art Shows

Been to a couple cool art shows in the last 2 weeks.

First off, mister Jim Darling had a showing at the Charmichael Gallery in Hollywood. Fucking great stuff Jim. Wish I had some money to buy a piece.

This last weekend we went over to the MOCA for the members opening night of the Dan Graham exhibition. Some good drinks and music with Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth (separately) performing. Got a shot of Thurston and Kim (she is right behind the woman with the green bag) with artist Dan Graham.

The morning paper.

I am old enough to remember having the newspaper delivered to my house and young enough to have my Google Reader replace my morning paper. The way the public consumes information has drastically changed and the newspaper and print industries have had to make some major adjustment. Here is an interesting and funny video from 1981 of the conception of the online newspaper.
