Archived entries for downtown

It’s been a while Part 3

So this is part three of the recap installment.  Check the previous two post for the earlier parts of the pictorial recap.

First up, in mid July, is a Peruvian festival the family got a chance to check out.  The food was great and it was good to see so much Peruvian food in one place.

In early August we got a chance to have a mini staycation in downtown Los Angeles.  On the first afternoon we checked out the exhibit at the MOCA.

Catching up

So… sorry for the lack of updates the last few weeks.  Been super busy with life but wanted to catch up on a couple recent happenings.

First off, the family got to hangs on the beaches of San Clemente a few weeks back (check the previous Easter post from the iPhone).  Completely relaxing and completely needed.  Here is the view from the patio.  Pretty sweet!

These next shots were taken at the Fiest Broadway festival in Downtown LA.  The festival itself was whatever.  A lot of “spin the wheel for a free bottle opener or pen” booths.

But the family did get a chance to eat in the Grand Central Market.  Really great place.  Totally recommend trying to make it out there.  Had some great mexican food!

Kogi, the Korean Taco Truck

Having been wanting to try Kogi (the Korean BBQ taco truck) since I first heard of it about a month back. I love taco trucks and the fusion of Korean BBQ sounded like heaven on earth. Only in LA! Follow the taco truck on twitter at @KOGIBBQ.

Well, Mochi was able to have Kogi cater Molly’s birthday in downtown LA. No way I was going to miss that. During the day at work we got the massive shipment of vendor gifts. Calories up the wazoo!

I made sure to stay hungry towards the end of the day so i would have my fixin of Kogi.

Holiday parties!

Tis the season. You have to love holiday season. Sales in the department stores, everyone seems to be a little happier, and everyone throws holiday parties.

This year had waaaaaayyyy to much wine at DVB’s place. Started out the night checking out Molly & Mochi’s new loft in downtown. I am f*cking jealous!

We then all headed over to the west side for the holiday festivities. Here is a picture I barely remember taking. Shortly after this is where my memory begins to fade. Good times!

Another downtown family fun day.

Had another family fun day in downtown on a nice Sunday afternoon. The tour started at the Barker Lofts. Urth Cafe recently opened up and wanted to do the taste test. Breakfast was pretty good, but it ain’t cheap! Didn’t get a chance to try it, but I hear the pumpkin pie is legendary here!

After the MOCA we went back to the Barker Block to check out the Festival De La Gente.

The food festival

So my favorite annual Japanese food festival took place last weekend and it again lived up to expectations. All you can eat Japanese food, plus all you can drink sake and beer, make for a wonderful festival! Here are a couple pictures I took from the days festivities.

The ladies took place in rolling a 40 foot sushi roll! After that we chilled in the garden and tried to sober up! It was a great Saturday!

A pictorial recap

It’s been a busy last few weeks. Here is a pictorial recap of some of the places I have recently visited in the last few weeks.

These first couple pictures are taken at Fernando’s loft. Been to his rooftop pool way too much! The first shot is of Neron in his loft. The second shot is of a few of us hanging out one night in the spa.

This next shot I took when Sandy and I had breakfast in Burbank at Bob’s Big Boy.

We also had a chance to check out Hollywood and Highland afterwards.

Finally, we had a nice dinner at Cafe des Artistes. I have been wanting to take Sandy there for about 7 years now, and she just now finally agreed and of course loved it. ;)

Moving on up

My brother moved into his new place over the weekend. Congrats to him. He is now downtown in a loft and I am jealous. At least I now have a pool I can go to and get out of the valley heat. Here are some pictures of his new digs I took a couple weeks ago.

Happy Holidays

So I haven’t posted in awhile, sorry. There has been a ton to write about, but have just been lazy I guess. And even when I do go out and take the camera I would forget to take pictures. Well lets begin the recap.

My brothers birthday was earlier this month. Did the annual dinner at Matsuhisa, hmmmm good, and the next night we met up at the bar at the Figueroa Hotel. Really cool place you guys should check out if you are ever at the Staple Center. Got my drink on and did not take too many photos. I took this one stumbling on the way out.

The next day we headed over to the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena to check out some art.

Later on in the evening I put up the Christmas lights to my house for the first time ever. Liked how it came out but I also learned a couple things from mistakes. Next year will be dope.

Christmas Lights

The next weekend I had my company’s Christmas Party. The party this year was at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles. Had this Speakeasy theme and was actually surprised with the number of people that came out dressed up. This was my first Chiat Christmas party and it was good times. My stupid ass forgot to take any pics during the actual party. Sorry!
