Archived entries for work

It’s been a while Part 1

Sorry for being away for so long.  Been busy and put blame on work and life.  I have been bad on regularly updating this.  Need to improve on that. Anywho, here is a pictorial recap of random events in the last couple months.

First off, back in June, I got a chance to check out the e3 (video game conference).  Some of the highlights were Beatles Rock Band, DJ Hero, Microsoft Project Natal, and XBOX 360 social media integration.  Here are some random pictures from the day.

Another great thing about e3 this year is that the Lakers were in the play offs.

Late in June we went to Dwell on Design with the family.  Great source of inspiration and got ideas for the house.  Checked out some great furniture too.

It’s summer time!  Few things happen in summer.  The kidde pool gets inflated, and art goes up on the walls at work.

Kogi, the Korean Taco Truck

Having been wanting to try Kogi (the Korean BBQ taco truck) since I first heard of it about a month back. I love taco trucks and the fusion of Korean BBQ sounded like heaven on earth. Only in LA! Follow the taco truck on twitter at @KOGIBBQ.

Well, Mochi was able to have Kogi cater Molly’s birthday in downtown LA. No way I was going to miss that. During the day at work we got the massive shipment of vendor gifts. Calories up the wazoo!

I made sure to stay hungry towards the end of the day so i would have my fixin of Kogi.

The oil painting potrait.

So this last July we helped out our sister TBWA office, agency.com in Shanghai, with a project. We gave them the source code of a very nice inter office web app. We helped them install it and they told us they were sending a thank you gift. They asked us to send over a picture of the LA team for an oil painting. We emailed them the photo and forgot all about it. Last Monday I get a message from the mail room that there is a big freight package for me. I pick it up, lug it over to the back, and open it up.

It is a fucking masterpiece! This made my week! I didn’t know that oil adds 20 pounds to the face. ;)

I’m the one at the far left btw, if you didn’t know!

AIR getting full release

Thats right, AIR is finally out of beta. Adobe has taken AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime) out of beta and released it to the world. Download the installer here.

What is AIR? “Adobe AIR is a cross-operating system runtime that lets developers combine HTML, Ajax, Adobe Flash, and Flex technologies to deploy rich Internet applications (RIAs) on the desktop.”

To paraphrase, AIR is going to let web developers write cross platform desktop applications. This is a pretty big deal. It will continue to blur the online and desktop user experience. You can find some cool examples at Adobes Application showcase. I use a couple already, Finetunes and the Google analytics app.
